SK On, the battery manufacturing unit of SK Innovation, announced on Thursday that the road connecting its Hungarian plant in Iváncsa to the nearby town has been officially renamed "SK Road" (SK út in Hungarian) to recognize the company's regional impact.

The 1.8-kilometer road, located in Iváncsa, Fejér County, links the entrance of the Iváncsa Industrial Complex to SK On's facility and connects to Budapest via the M6 motorway.

On Tuesday, SK On Hungary held a naming ceremony attended by local officials, including Iváncsa Mayor Tibor Molnár and SK On Hungary Managing Director Kim Se-jin.

"It is a great honor to name the public road leading to our factory ‘SK út,'" Kim said. "We deeply value local talent and our partnership with the community."

Following the ceremony, attendees toured the Iváncsa plant to view its advanced battery production processes. Molnar expressed support for the company, noting its importance in both Iváncsa and the wider Dunaújváros area.

The Iváncsa plant, SK On's third battery facility in Hungary after two plants in Komárom, has an annual production capacity of 30 gigawatt hours (GWh), increasing SK On's total European output to 47.5 GWh. The plant achieved a production yield exceeding 90 percent within three months, a notably fast stabilization.

To support local growth, SK On has donated 15 million Hungarian forints to Iváncsa's public foundations since 2021, funding urban upgrades, school improvements and essential supplies for residents in need.
