MetLife Korea published its first sustainability report, showcasing its commitment to responsible business practices, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and support for its communities.

The voluntary reporting underscores MetLife Korea's dedication to its stakeholders as it provides transparency in its performance against the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, which align with the sustainability strategy of MetLife and the local work of MetLife Korea, the insurer noted.

MetLife Korea's sustainability initiatives reflect MetLife's purpose of "Always with you, building a more confident future."

Since 2016, MetLife has maintained carbon neutrality, demonstrating its leadership in environmental stewardship. MetLife also promotes philanthropy and volunteerism globally, with MetLife Foundation's donations surpassing $1 billion and MetLife employee volunteers across 38 markets, including Korea, logging over 144,000 volunteer hours globally in 2023.

MetLife Korea contributes to MetLife's global sustainability goals by implementing sustainable investment strategies, reducing paper usage and engaging in environmental restoration projects such as the reforestation of areas damaged by the Hongcheon wildfire in Gangwon Province, the School Forest Challenge, and the MetLife Extraordinary Litter Pickup initiative.

Additionally, MetLife Korea supports employee well-being through initiatives such as the Health Keeper Program and operates a DEI Lab to foster an inclusive workplace culture.

"All of us at MetLife Korea are so proud of our activities," MetLife Korea CEO Song Young-rok said.

"With each one, we reaffirm our company's commitment to expanding sustainable practices to benefit customers and local communities, with our purpose as our guide," he added, emphasizing the importance of the sustainability report.
