Access to the National Assembly compound was blocked by parliamentary guards and the police after President Yoon Suk Yeol declared emergency martial law Tuesday.

As of 11:30 p.m., guards and police officers were stationed along the National Assembly gates, allowing entry only to lawmakers, parliamentary staff and accredited reporters after an ID check.

Dozens of citizens gathered in front of the Assembly following Yoon's declaration of martial law, leading to scuffles between them and the police. (Yonhap)
