Korean companies are set to receive a large number of innovation awards at the upcoming CES 2025, the country's state-run trade promotion agency said Tuesday.
In an initial list released by the Consumer Technology Association, the event organizer, 129 Korean firms were named among the 292 recipients at the annual international tech event, scheduled to be held next month in Las Vegas, according to the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).
KOTRA noted these 129 local firms have collectively won 165 awards.
Both the number of recipients and the number of awards mark the largest among all participating countries. The United States had the second-largest number of award recipients at 60, followed by China with 16 and Japan 15.
The full list will be published Jan. 7, when CES 2025 begins its four-day run, according to KOTRA.
The CES Innovation Awards annually recognize and honor exceptional designs and engineering in technology that tackle global challenges and drive meaningful change.
This year's awards highlight innovations in digital health, artificial intelligence and sustainability, with Korean firms excelling in fintech, sports, human security, smart cities, drones and the metaverse, among other sectors. (Yonhap)
