A letter from the wife of a Presidential Security Service (PSS) agent stationed at the president's residence in central Seoul's Hannam-dong was made public, as the second arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol nears execution.

The letter, addressed to acting President and Deputy Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok, urged him to exercise his authority over the PSS to end the prolonged standoff and cooperate with the warrant execution.

In the handwritten letter revealed by MBC on Monday, the wife said: "For the past three weeks, my husband has been on site without a single day off, enduring extreme tension. Watching him struggle daily, I write this letter as a desperate plea."

She expressed deep concern for her husband's mental and physical well-being, saying, "I fear he may face heavy responsibility in the field. Despite my pleas, he must go, leaving me in constant pain and anxiety. This unending ordeal feels like hell, and each new day brings more torment."

The wife's apprehensions grew after reports surfaced that some PSS officers had been ordered to arm themselves in preparation for the arrest warrant's execution.

She wrote: "I heard that orders for heavy armament were issued recently. I have no idea what might unfold, but it seems inevitable that someone will get hurt in such a situation. These dreadful thoughts won't leave my mind."

She urged Choi to ensure that no violent clashes or bloodshed will occur during the process. "The fate of the nation and the lives of its people are in your hands," she wrote. "Please help the PSS return to its rightful role and carry out its mission without causing further fear and uncertainty for families like ours."

The letter also included a direct appeal to Yoon, who has remained at his residence during the standoff. "I plead with you to act responsibly for the sake of the people. As a citizen, I remember your campaign promise to 'never hide.' My husband and his colleagues are risking their lives for you, but it's heartbreaking to see them being pushed into dangerous situations," she said.

She concluded with a heartfelt request: "Please ensure that everyone completes their mission safely and returns to their families as soon as possible."
