GPTW Korea hosted an award event for the country's 100 Best Workplaces at an undisclosed location in Seoul.
According to the evaluation organization, it measured five categories for the list — trust, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie — and delved into factors such as communication, business execution, ethics, support, engagement, care, fairness, equity, justice, personal, team and company pride, closeness, goodwill and sense of community.
"Along with changes in the way we work, employee autonomy and flexibility are becoming key factors in determining a company's competitiveness," a GPTW official said in a press release.
Of the companies in the list, the official said Merz Aesthetics Korea has enjoyed strong revenue growth since company Senior Vice President Yu Su-yeon took the post in 2014. The firm is medical aesthetics maker Merz's local affiliate in Korea.
It added Yu has done her best to create a workplace environment where employees can thrive, under the belief that sustainable corporate growth is rooted in employee satisfaction and engagement.
According to the company, it has provided various career opportunities and educational programs such as language courses and business training to help employees enhance their skills continuously.
Santen Pharmaceutical Korea has also boasted its market presence under incumbent CEO Lee Han-woong's leadership. The company is ophthalmic treatment solution provider Santen Pharmaceutical's local branch in Korea.
It was also listed as one of the 100 Best Workplaces in Korea with its newly implemented remote work, hour system allowing employees to flexibly choose their working hours and locations.
"(The system) significantly enhanced employees' work-life balance," said a spokesperson for Santen Pharmaceutical Korea.
"It is highly praised by all employees, including working mothers and fathers. (It) allows them to spend more time with their children while still achieving outstanding career results."
Global healthcare service provider Stryker's local affiliate in Korea was also named in the list for the seventh consecutive year thanks to various career development programs for employees.
"Stryker's culture defines how we work. Our culture — centered around purpose, talent, relationships, and growth — makes our workplace unique and special. We operate with a clear purpose, empowering employees to leverage their strengths, fostering trust and collaboration, and growing together with the organization," Stryker Korea General Manager Shim Hyun-woo said.
"To fulfill its mission of ‘Together with our customers, we are driven to make healthcare better,' Stryker Korea will continue working alongside its employees to create a supportive, efficient, and autonomous work environment, ensuring sustained growth and success."
GPTW Korea said a productive relationship with employees is a must for a company's success.
"Sustainable growth of a company starts with a trusting relationship with its employees," GPTW Korea CEO Chi Bang-geun said.
"Providing an environment where employees can have autonomy and initiative beyond simple welfare benefits is the most important factor."
