Police said Monday they have suspended an investigation into a Japanese woman accused of unexpectedly kissing BTS member Jin on the cheek during a fan event last year.
Seoul's Songpa Police Station made the decision to put a hold on the investigation as it would take some time before the woman appeared for questioning.
The Japanese woman in her 50s was booked and summoned for questioning on suspicions of sexual harassment in a public space.
The fan reportedly kissed the star, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, on the cheek during a "free hug" event attended by 1,000 fans on June 13, a day after his discharge from the military.
Under police regulations, authorities can halt an investigation when a suspect is abroad for over two months, making it difficult to proceed with the probe.
"We plan to resume the investigation as soon as the suspect appears for questioning," a police official said. (Yonhap)
