An 54-year-old Indian woman has impressed the world by fighting off an attack from a leopard.
Kamla Devi was walking to her farm when the leopard attacked her in the remote village of Koti Bodna in northern India. She fought back with a sickle and spade.
The big cat was found dead after an hour-long fight. Devi fractured her hand and injured her head and legs.
"We have not counted the number of stitches, but it must be more than 100," medic Jasbir Singh told reporters. "She has sustained two fractures on the right hand and one on the left. She also has deep injuries on her head and legs."
Kamla's will to survive amazed the surgeons.
"Walking one mile with blood oozing out from your body speaks a lot about her strong will power to survive," said Jasbir.
Kamla's husband died three decades ago and she was raising her family on her own.

낫으로 표범을 죽인 여성

캄라 데비라는 54세의 이 여성은 인도 북부 지방에 있는 자신의 농장으로 가던 중 표범과 직면하게 됐고, 당시에 자신이 가지고 있던 낫과 삽으로 표범과 사투를 시작했다.
놀랍게도 약 1시간에 걸친 싸움의 승자는 그녀였다. 물론 손과 목 등 많은 곳에 큰 상처를 입었지만 그녀의 생명에는 지장이 없는 것으로 알려졌다.
'세 보지는 않았지만 아마 100바늘 이상은 꼬맸을 거에요' 그녀의 수술을 맡은 의사가 말했다.
하지만 진정 의사를 놀라게 했던 것은 그녀의 생존 의지였다.
'많은 출혈이 있었을텐데도 1마일 이상 걸어온 것은 그녀의 생존 의지 덕분입니다'
한편 그녀의 남편은 30년 전 세상을 떠난 것으로 알려졌으며 현재 홀로 자식들을 키우며 살고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
