An Irish pilot was found dead at a hotel on Yeongjong Island near Incheon International Airport, police said Wednesday.

A hotel clerk found the body of the pilot, 50, in his room at 5:36 p.m. on Feb. 3. Incheon Jungbu Police Station said the clerk entered the room because it was past the checkout deadline.

An investigation is under way to determine the cause of death.

Police said the pilot checked in alone on Feb. 2. All the room's windows were locked when the body was found, they said, citing witnesses. Investigators found no sign of foul play.

“We are investigating with the highest possibility put on sudden death,” an investigator said. “Therefore, we are looking into the history of the diseases he suffered.”
