SeAH Besteel will advance into the nuclear power plant market by strengthening partnerships with domestic and foreign nuclear companies. The company announced it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Orano TN and KEPCO E&C to cooperate in the dry spent nuclear fuel storage business.

Under the MOU, the three companies agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation through the exchange of expertise and information and jointly enter into the nuclear power plant business.

"Through this MOU, we will lay the foundation for a successful dry storage business for spent nuclear fuel that is safe and economical. We look forward to playing a leading role as a major supplier in the sector." an official from SeAH Besteel said.

Also, Orano TN will be in charge of providing and supplying the dry storage system technology, SeAH Besteel will be in charge of the manufacturing and joint supply of dry storage systems, and KEPCO E&C will provide dry storage system licensing and engineering services.

As the domestic carbon-neutral policy accelerates, the use of nuclear power plants is expected to rise, and the issue of spent nuclear fuel disposal is emerging as an essential task for the revitalization of nuclear power plants, the company said.
