Two brothers who allegedly made and sold the nation's largest-ever volume of counterfeit erectile dysfunction pills will be tried in court, prosecutors said Thursday.

The Seoul Western District Prosecutors Office said the older brother in his 60s, surnamed Ahn, has been arrested and indicted, and the younger brother in his 50s has been indicted without detention, both on charges of making and selling about 1.5 million fake erectile dysfunction pills between September 2020 and March this year.

The suspects were earlier apprehended by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's investigators and sent to the prosecution on June 3.

The 1.5 million pills worth about 16 billion won ($11.67 million) in terms of genuine products are the largest quantity ever found in the ministry's crackdown.

The prosecution said proceedings are under way to confiscate the brothers' properties, including buildings used to manufacture the counterfeit drugs. (Yonhap)
