[VIDEO] What topics should be taught in public schools?

By Seungeun Yu

Big changes in the education sector are now taking place across the world, the most controversial being U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's proposal to abolish the Department of Education. This statement has recently sparked heated debates, with some conversations focusing on how students are educated on sensitive topics like race, LGBTQ issues and patriotism.

Does such a discussion ever go peacefully? To quote one of our guests; "Shots will be fired." Indeed, when the Howdy Korea team reached out to potential participants for this video, this was essentially what they told us. We faced numerous rejections, but we believed that fostering a civil discussion on such topics was not only possible but also necessary.

And now we are proud to say that we were successful. In this episode of Howdy Korea, we brought together American, Dutch, French and Korean nationals to participate in a thought-provoking game called "Draw the line," in which each participant shares where they stand on the topics provided. From heartfelt stories of their personal lives to their experiences traveling through Thailand, the participants offer insights into global perspectives.

This video is more than a debate — it's a cross-cultural conversation about identity and the future of education. Watch now to see what global citizens really think about these pressing issues!
