The Constitutional Court said Tuesday it has sent President Yoon Suk Yeol documents related to his impeachment trial, but his office has refused to confirm their receipt.
The National Assembly's impeachment resolution and other documents were sent to the presidential office Monday —via a delivery person, express mail and an electronic system — but no confirmation of their receipt was given, Lee Jin, a court spokesperson, said at a press briefing.
Earlier Monday, Kim Hyung-du, one of the six justices currently on the bench, told reporters that the documents were sent to Yoon on Monday morning and that they required a written response within seven days.
The delayed delivery of the documents will likely push back the next steps in the trial, as Yoon's response will be used together with the parliamentary resolution as the starting point of deliberations on whether to uphold or reject Yoon's impeachment over his failed martial law imposition on Dec. 3.
Currently, a preparatory hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 27.
The court does not plan to broadcast the hearings live. (Yonhap)
