SEONGNAM, Gyeonggi Province — Hyundai Motor launched the second generation of the Palisade, its three-row family SUV, aiming to boost demand for premium family cars.

The redesigned model made its debut on Tuesday after a six-year hiatus, showcasing a bold and grand exterior design. As Hyundai's flagship SUV, it boasts cutting-edge infotainment systems and a luxurious interior, offering a premium driving experience.

Starting in December 2024, the all-new Palisade received pre-orders and quickly attracted significant attention from customers, securing more than 33,000 orders on its first day. The vehicle has firmly established itself as a leading contender in the large-sized premium SUV market in Korea.

The Palisade is available with two powertrain options: a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a hybrid engine. The gasoline version delivers a maximum output of 281 horsepower, with an official fuel efficiency rating of 9.7 kilometers per liter.

The 2.5-liter turbo hybrid powertrain delivers up to 334 horsepower. Hyundai praised the hybrid version for its impressive range, claiming it can travel more than 1,000 kilometers on a full tank, based on the company's test results.

The hybrid model is equipped with a range of Hyundai's state-of-the-art driving technologies, designed to enhance safety, handling, and braking performance, according to Hyundai Motor.

Representatives from both Hyundai's management and labor union attended the vehicle's launch ceremony, marking a rare joint appearance at such an event.

“Hyundai Motor will do its best to satisfy customers by ensuring the vehicle's quality and its timely production,” Hyundai Motor CEO Lee Dong-seock said.

Moon Yong-moon, head of the carmaker's labor union, also pledged to ensure the vehicle is produced with the highest quality, so customers and their families can enjoy a safe and reliable driving experience.

Earlier, Hyundai's management and labor union reached an agreement to assemble the strategic SUV across three production lines at the company's factory in the southeastern port city of Ulsan.

The agreement was reached to ensure flexible production of the vehicle, as demand remains strong. More customers are showing a preference for large SUVs with hybrid powertrains, rather than traditional sedans or electric vehicles (EVs).

The hybrid version of the Palisade carries a price tag starting at 49.82 million won ($34,000), with the highest trim costing 63.26 million won. The 2.5-liter gasoline version will be available starting on Jan. 15, while deliveries of the hybrid models are expected to begin around the second quarter of this year.
