A Japanese woman accused of unexpectedly kissing BTS member Jin on the cheek during a meet-and-greet event last year has been booked by police.

Seoul's Songpa Police Station said Thursday the woman in her 50s was booked and summoned for questioning on charges of sexual harassment in a public space.

According to police investigations, the fan kissed the star, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, on the cheek during a "free hug" event attended by 1,000 fans on June 13, a day after his discharge from the military.

Following the incident, which left Jin visibly taken aback, the fan wrote in an online blog post, "My lips touched his neck. His skin was so soft."

Police identified the woman with assistance from the Japanese police after receiving a complaint from a netizen and booked her last month. Authorities said she has been uncooperative and has not responded to summons for questioning.

Investigators are reportedly considering calling in Jin to provide a statement as the victim in the case. (Yonhap)
