Big spenders at Galleria Department Stores will receive special treatment at airports, hotels and restaurants in New York City, including pickup service using luxurious Mercedes Benz sedans from JFK International Airport, the company said Thursday.

They will also be able to fly to New York with a self-designed itinerary, in coordination with a tour agency associated with Hanjin Group, owner of the country's flagship carrier Korean Air.

Those spending more than 20 million won ($17,900) a year at Galleria stores across the country can benefit from the special program called the "Galleria PP Package," a spokeswoman said.

"This is the first program of this kind in Korea," she said. "This is the latest in a series of efforts to better serve our VIP customers."

She noted the program will show that Galleria serves customers even beyond borders.

In September, the Seoul-based department store formed a partnership with New York-based luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman, enabling the former's loyal customers to get special treatment at the latter, and vice versa.

"We will try to form partnership with more luxury department stores around the world," a Galleria officer said.
