K-pop band Girls' Generation member Taeyeon has confirmed her talent as a soloist with her latest hit album.

Following her successful debut as a soloist last year with the title track "I" from her first solo album, her latest song, "Why," topped several Korean TV music performance shows and 12 foreign music charts, including in Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines.

The music video of "Why" has had over 10 million YouTube hits since its release on June 27.

Taeyeon held her first solo concerts in Seoul on July 9 and 10, drawing almost 6,000 people. She is planning another concert in Korea's second-largest city, Busan, next month.

Traditionally, female artists' solo concerts are uncommon in K-pop because fans are mainly females in their 10s to 30s.

Taeyeon debuted in 2007 as the main vocalist of the band and has released several solo numbers, including "If" (2008) and "Can you hear me?" (2008).
