K-pop solo artist Jeon So-mi, known by the stage name Somi, will make her comeback with the single "What You Waiting For," about a year after her debut song "BIRTHDAY."
The singer's latest single, an R&B genre dance-pop, will hit streaming sites at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Somi teamed up with hit-maker Teddy, a producer and founder of her label The Black Label, to co-produce and write the song.
The singer has recently inked a management deal with Interscope, a sub-label of Universal Music Group, and is gearing up to break into the worldwide music scene.
"It's only been a year since Somi debuted, but she's already joining the pool of high-profile artists," The Black Label said. "People in the U.S. saw the potential in her from the impact she has on the global audience, even without doing any breaking acts in the country."

Regarding the deal, the U.S. agency commented: "Somi stands out with her unique and worldly approach to pop music. She is poised to be the next international breakout artist."
Somi rose to stardom after competing in Mnet's popular K-pop survival show "Produce 101" in 2016. She made it to the top 11 finalists and debuted as a member of the project group I.O.I.
When the group disbanded in 2017, she began a solo act under YG entertainment's sub-label.
