By Nandita Kothari, Kim Kang-min

This is a day in the life of Jieun and Heecheol, the owners of Hica, a popular dessert café that has been running for about three years. In February 2023, they moved to Mangwon, a neighborhood in Seoul that has become increasingly popular among young Koreans due to the rising number of trendy and Instagrammable cafes and restaurants.

They usually work for more than 12 hours a day, sometimes even until 1 or 2 in the morning on weekends. They can manage it because they truly enjoy making cakes and running their café, and their love and care are evident in every bite of their cakes!
