K-pop girl group Weeekly returned after a 19-month hiatus, eager to enthrall fans with a fresh burst of color with the release of its fifth mini-album "ColoRise."

Consisting of members Lee Soo-jin, Monday, Park So-eun, Lee Jae-hee, Jihan and Zoa, the sextet hosted a press event, Wednesday, at Blue Square Mastercard Hall in central Seoul's Yongsan District to express their commitment to this new musical journey.

"The title of this album, 'ColoRise,' is a fusion of the words, 'color' and 'rise,'" Park explained. "It embodies a message that we aim to elevate our status within the music industry with our unique colors."

Indeed, the new album serves as the fruit of Weeekly's expanded spectrum achieved during their hiatus. The group put in great effort during these 19 months to refine their skills as idols.

Band member Monday emphasized the positive impact of the hiatus.

"Being on stage is our job, so the longer the break, the more frustrating it became. So our dedication to producing a high-quality album during this period grew stronger and stronger and I believe this is why this album turned out wonderfully," she explained.

Weeekly's commitment to growth also saw them participate in Mnet's reality show "Queendom Puzzle," where Lee, Park, Jihan and Zoa showcased their unique charms.

"The show gave us valuable lessons. I particularly focused on adopting a rookie mindset, treating every stage performance as a precious opportunity. This perspective deeply resonates with our comeback," Jihan said.

The album's lead single, "VROOM VROOM," is an embodiment of the work the members have put in. The song features standout choreography by dance crew La Chica, renowned for their appearance on the first season of Mnet's "Street Woman Fighter" (2021).

Park described the dance as "mimicking the act of driving a car."

"The moves involve starting the engine with both hands and turning the handle," she said.

She then gave a live demonstration of the dance, emphasizing its energetic nature.

Lee, the group's leader and the eldest member, reminisced about their practice sessions with La Chica.

"It was a rewarding experience to work with La Chica, who commended our quick learning. We practiced a lot before lessons, and I think they saw how much work we put in and the passion in us," she said.

With Weeekly's four-year journey since their debut, the members are eager to expand their horizons and reach a broader audience.

Zoa expressed her hopes, saying, "We believe that constant effort leads to success. We aim for our music to become a tune everyone can sing along to."

Monday chimed in, "I personally wish to hear our songs while strolling down the street."
