The Seoul Metropolitan Government has disapproved a festival featuring Japanese porn actresses, scheduled to take place next week on board a Han River cruise ship.

However, the organizer, which has already had its planned events in Suwon and Paju of Gyeonggi Province canceled, plans to push ahead with it.

According to the city government, Monday, Play Joker, the organizing group of the festival dubbed "2024 KFX The Fashion," announced its plan to hold the event aboard a ship at Jamwon Hangang Park on April 21 and 22.

In response, citing concerns that the event could lead to distortions of people's perceptions of sex and trigger sex crimes, the city government sent a letter of notice to organizers banning the festival, citing the River Act and the capital's regulations on riverside projects and events.

The letter threatened that the city will file a police complaint against the organizers if the event takes place. Additionally, it plans to cancel the cruise's lease approval and riverside occupation permission, while threatening to cut off the electricity around the area to stop the festival in its tracks.

The festival is scheduled to feature a fashion show, fan meetup and dance performances with several Japanese porn actresses. The entrance fee to last year's event was about 90,000 won ($65).

The festival was initially scheduled to take place at an exhibition hall in Suwon, but was canceled due to the Suwon government's disapproval last month. The organizers changed the venue once more to Paju, which was also disapproved and canceled by the local government within a day of the announcement.
