The SSG Landers announced Saturday that it had signed former major league pitcher Drew Anderson.

In a corresponding move, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) club released struggling right-hander Robert Dugger.

Anderson, 30, has 19 games of big league experience for three clubs, going 1-3 with a 6.50 ERA over 44 1/3 innings.

The right-hander spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons in Japan with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, and compiled a 7-5 record in 34 games, including 19 starts, with a 3.05 ERA.

This year, Anderson has been pitching for the Toledo Mud Hens, the Triple-A affiliate for the Detroit Tigers, and had a 2-1 record with a 3.86 ERA in nine relief appearances.

According to the Landers, Anderson has touched 156 kilometers per hour (96.9 miles per hour) with his four-seam fastball this year, and also throws a curveball, cutter, slider and changeup.

Anderson replaces Dugger, who arrived in Korea this spring with high expectations but lasted just six starts.

Dugger had a 0-3 record with a 12.71 ERA. On April 6, Dugger gave up 14 runs on 12 hits in only three innings against the NC Dinos, tying the KBO record for most runs allowed by a pitcher in a game.

He showed signs of a turnaround on April 18, when he held the first-place Kia Tigers to a run on three hits in five innings. Six days later, though, Dugger was roughed up for seven runs on nine hits in 2 2/3 innings against the last-place Lotte Giants.

Despite Dugger's struggles, the Landers were tied for third in the league through Friday at 16-12-1 (wins-losses-ties). They have the second-worst team ERA, though, at 5.28, and they have surrendered a league-high 35 home runs. (Yonhap)
