A series of popular summer festivals are set to kick off this month, seeking to help people beat the sweltering heat with the power of music.

The Weverse Con Festival, an annual music event organized by K-pop powerhouse HYBE, is scheduled to take place at the Inspire Entertainment Resort in Incheon, west of Seoul, on June 15 and 16.

Launched in 2021, it was initially a year-end concert for HYBE stars like BTS and Tomorrow X Together (TXT), but the company transformed it into a party for all in 2023, inviting artists of different backgrounds to "transcend genres and generations while creating a new fan experience." Last year, it was joined by some 20,000 spectators.

This year, 24 teams, including the HYBE acts SEVENTEEN, Le Sserafim, ENHYPEN, TWS and ILLIT will join the much-anticipated festival.

Also included in the star-studded lineup are the non-HYBE artists like Kwon Eun-bi, Chuu and Billlie. The company will also bring in Japanese artists imase and Yoasobi, in addition to the virtual boy group PLAVE. XIA and Kim Jae-joong of K-pop trio JYJ will take the stage as well, with Park Jin-young, the founder of JYP Entertainment, appearing as a tribute artist to stage a performance with special guests.

"'The past and future' are the keywords for my upcoming show," Park said in a statement. "I want to walk down memory lane with my fans while showing my new sides that I will unfold in the coming days by collaborating with younger artists."

"The Weverse Con Festival is the only place where people can enjoy the performances of Park Jin-young, ILLIT, PLAVE and 10CM all at once," HYBE noted in a statement.

However, those who want to fall under EDM's spell can join the World DJ Festival scheduled for June 15 and 16 at the Seoul Land amusement park in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province. Known for being the biggest DJ festival in Korea, it draws some 100,000 fans from around the world annually.

This year's event will feature a wave of internationally acclaimed DJs and producers, such as Eric Prydz, Alan Walker, The Chainsmokers and Gryffin. For Prydz, it will mark the Swedish DJ's first time performing in Korea.

A week after that, the Asian Pop Festival will be inaugurated at the Paradise City resort in Incheon on June 22 and 23, with the aim of introducing a diverse range of Asian musicians. Featured in the performer lineup are Kim Chang Wan Band and Baek Ye-rin from Korea, the Taiwanese indie band No Party for Cao Dong and the Japanese singer-songwriter Ayano Kaneko.

The Summer Swag concert, another iconic festival hosted by PSY, who rocketed to global fame with the song "Gangnam Style" (2012), will also start its new run on June 29 in Wonju, Gangwon Province. This year, it is set to take place in eight other cities, including Gwangju, Daegu, Busan and Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.

Established in 2011, the Summer Swag concert is a highly popular water-drench party that attracts approximately 30,000 people each day. For the event, the audience of all ages, donning blue outfits and accessories, passionately sing and dance along with the veteran singer, who has unleashed a series of hits like "Entertainer" (2006) and "Gentleman" (2013) since his debut in 1999.

"The best thing about my show is that it brings together people of all ages ranging from teenagers to older adults," the singer said during his show in 2023 at Jamsil Olympic Main Stadium in southern Seoul. "There are so many better singers, rappers and dancers in Korea, but I am thankful that you still love me."

According to his management company, P Nation, the preparations for the 46-year-old's upcoming shows are currently in full swing.

"PSY is working hard to present another legendary performance by creating a set list composed of his mega-hits and preparing for amazing stage management and composition," the company said in a statement.
