K-pop powerhouse SM Entertainment will launch its first boy group from the United Kingdom with BBC's reality show, "Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience," sharing the making of the group, the company said Friday.

Last year, the agency and Kakao Entertainment America joined hands with London-based production company Moon&Back Media to produce a boy group, which is set to make its official debut this year.

Moon&Back selected the five members of the act and SM Entertainment took charge of sharing its K-pop know-how from vocal and choreography to music.

The six-part series, set to release this summer on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, will follow the group's journey to become musicians, spending 100 days in Seoul to go through K-pop training.

The agency's Artist Development Center, a department responsible for casting and training, took part in the training process, along with some of the world's top choreographers and composers.

"Forming a British boy band, schooling them through the unrivaled rigors of the K-pop process, and launching them on the global stage is creating both a world's first and unmissable television," Nigel Hall, the co-founder of Moon&Back Media said.

The joint project is SM, which houses K-pop star groups like EXO and aespa, and Kakao's attempt to expand their footing in the global market.

"SM and Kakao Entertainment plan to continue to accelerate our global expansion by producing local intellectual property (IP) projects like this one and building networks with leading global partners to find various ways for business collaboration," the agency said.
