Goldman Sachs announced the appointment of Ahn Jae-hoon as co-country head of Korea, as well as head of investment banking in Korea and co-branch manager of Goldman Sachs Seoul Branch. He will join Goldman Sachs as a managing director in mid-August.

As head of investment banking, Ahn will manage the firm's broader investment banking strategy and drive growth across industry groups in Korea with a focus on deepening and broadening client relationships.

As co-country head and co-branch manager, alongside Choi Jae-joon, Ahn will work closely with division heads in Seoul to execute the firm's strategy and will have full accountability for all of the activities undertaken by the Seoul office with respect to clients, people, strategy and the ongoing build-out of the firm's platform in Korea.

Ahn joins Goldman Sachs from SK Bioscience, where he served as vice president and head of strategic planning and corporate development. He previously spent 13 years at leading global investment banking firms in Seoul and was responsible for client coverage of Korean corporates and financial sponsors.

Ahn earned a degree in business administration from Yonsei University and received his MBA in the United States from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.

Goldman Sachs has been providing a range of financial services, including investment banking services, to Korean corporations and institutions since the 1970s. The representative office that opened in Seoul in 1992 was promoted to a branch that provides comprehensive financial services in 1998.

Goldman Sachs is one of the largest foreign investors in Korea with the total amount of investment exceeding $4.7 billion since 1999 and employing approximately 100 people in the Seoul office.
