Kyobo Book Centre, the nation's largest bookseller, said Friday that the script of "Lovely Runner," released on July 22, topped its bestseller list for the third week of July.

While scripts sold as books from director Park Chan-wook's 2022 film "Decision to Leave" and director Bong Joon-ho's 2019 film "Parasite" have previously reached the bestseller top spot, this marks the first time a drama script book has claimed first place, according to the bookstore chain.

"Lovely Runner" is a 16-episode series that aired from April to May. It is also available for global viewers through streaming platforms like Tving and Netflix. It tells the story of Lim Sol (Kim Hye-yoon) who slips back in time to her high school days and meets idol Ryu Sun-jae (Byeon Woo-seok) again.

This fantasy romance drama, portraying the clumsy yet innocent love between two people, particularly appealed to women. Kyobo Book Centre also revealed that 94.2 percent of readers of scripts sold in book form are women, with women in their 30s accounting for the highest proportion at 34.4 percent.

Another notable book on the bestseller list is "You Killed Someone," a new novel by bestselling Japanese author Keigo Higashino.

Higashino, a master of mystery novels, has consistently captivated Korean readers with over 100 published works.

This detective novel, which deals with a series of murders at a luxurious summer villa, is the author's 101st work and debuted in sixth place immediately after its release this week.

As students go on summer breaks, movement in the children's category is also notable. The comic book "Common Siblings: Scary If You Understand Them" (translated) by the popular YouTube comedy troupe Common Siblings (translated) also ranked 10th on the list.
