Golfzon opened City Golf in a 16,000-square-meter indoor space at Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center in China this month for its customers in the urban area to feel like they are playing on a real, full-size 18-hole golf course.

The Korean golf simulator provider explained that the private membership-based facility combines 18 different greens with 18 simulators, all in a space about double the size of a typical urban golf driving range. This is the first time for Golfzon to open such a facility.

Once a player hits a tee shot and approach shots through a simulator, its screen opens for the player to putt on a real green, according to Golfzon. The company said that players can hit approach shots and bunker shots near the greens of certain holes.

Golfzon emphasized that the greens of City Golf were designed by a company that designed the greens of Korea's most popular golf courses. The subsidiary of Golfzon Newdin Holdings also said that City Golf is an eco-friendly golf course that causes less harm to nature.

With the introduction of City Golf to the Chinese market, Golfzon plans to open similar facilities in major cities around the world.

The Korean firm will also open a gear shop and a snack bar at the City Golf in Tianjin.

Additionally, the Golfzon City Golf China Open taking place on Sept. 13 at the facility will go on air through China's local broadcaster and various other channels. Golfzon said that the game's winner will receive 1.5 million yuan ($211,000).

"City Golf is the most ideal urban golf course, based on our world-class golf simulator technology and expertise in operating real golf courses," Golfzon CEO Park Kang-soo said.

"We expect City Golf to become the world's best golf platform, which allows customers in major global cities to feel like that they are playing on a real golf course," he said.
