A Hyundai Avante collided with a Lamborghini worth about 400 million won ($300,000), sparking widespread discussion as footage of the incident circulated online. Amid growing speculation, an individual claiming to be the Lamborghini's owner clarified the details.

Several photos and videos of the accident, which took place at the entrance of an apartment complex in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, were posted on social media and online communities on Saturday.

The video shows a gray Avante going on the wrong side of the road and colliding with a red Lamborghini that was making a left turn at the entrance of an apartment parking lot. The Avante driver exits the vehicle, covering the face in distress while assessing the accident scene.

The impact severely damaged the driver's side of the Lamborghini, while the Avante sustained damage to its front fender, prompting speculation about insurance coverage.

Witnesses reported that the Avante driver attempted to avoid a delivery truck parked near a convenience store, leading to the crash. Speculations arose about whether the Lamborghini would be deemed a total loss or whether the Avante was uninsured.

A "total loss" occurs when repair costs exceed the vehicle's value, in which case the insurance company compensates the owner based on the car's appraised value.

Lamborghini owner speaks out

The damaged vehicle is known as a Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder, with a retail price of around 400 million won. It typically sells for a similar price in the used car market.

As rumors and speculation spread, the self-identified Lamborghini owner posted on the online community Bobaedream on Sunday to explain the situation. He shared that he reviewed dashcam footage and nearby CCTV, saying, "A delivery truck was momentarily stopped to allow my exit, but it was not unloading."

He added, "The Avante didn't wait for the delivery truck to clear and crossed the centerline. When I had fully entered the road, the Avante collided with my car." He continued that the Avante's brake lights were not illuminated before or after the crash.

The Lamborghini did not start after the accident. He explained, "After the Avante struck the side of my car, the vehicle was pushed back, causing additional damage to the rear fender. The side airbag deployed, and the blown fuse prevented the engine from starting. Whether the vehicle is a total loss has yet to be determined."

Regarding rumors that the Avante was uninsured, he clarified, "Both parties' insurance companies are currently handling the claim, and fault determination is still in progress. Both vehicles are fully insured, and I also have the highest level of coverage, including uninsured motorist protection."

He also noted, "Currently, it's not clear who is at fault, but the other driver apologized immediately after the accident," urging people to refrain from speculative criticism and insults.
