The government is set to complete handing over all 179 bodies of the deadly Jeju Air plane crash victims to their families and relatives Monday, acting Interior Minister Ko Ki-dong said.

Ko made the remark at a government response meeting, saying that search and recovery efforts at the crash site were at their final stages.

He said the government will "continue to provide support after funerals," adding that preparations were under way to set up an organization to support the bereaved families.

All but two people on the Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 plane carrying 181 died after it crashed at Muan International Airport on Dec. 29.

Meanwhile, the government has been conducting a safety inspection of all 101 Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by six airlines in the country following the Jeju Air plane crash. (Yonhap)
