Korean chef's restaurant awarded Michelin star

Chef Lee Young-hoon of Le Passe Temps in Lyon, France / Yonhap

Chef Lee Young-hoon, 33, has become the first Korean chef in France to earn a Michelin star.

Lee's restaurant, Le Passe Temps, is listed in Michelin Guide's 42 one-star selections for 2016, Yonhap reported Sunday.

All staff at the small restaurant in Lyon are Korean, including Lee's wife, who is a sommelier. The restaurant serves modern French cuisine with Korean elements.

An example is the foie gras served with fish stock and sprinkles of dried laver.

Lee graduated from the Korea Tourism College, moved to France in 2009 and studied at the renowned Institut Paul Bocuse. Le Passe Temps opened in April 2014.
