LG Hausys is showcasing 16 new products, including engineered stone interior materials, at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in Las Vegas, accelerating its advance into the artificial marble market in North America, the firm said Wednesday.

The annual KBIS, which began Tuesday for a three-day run, is one of the world's largest trade shows for kitchen and bath products.

The housing material manufacturer said acrylic solid surface HI-MACS, engineered stone Viatera and other new products unveiled during the event earned favorable reviews from officials from local architectural and interior companies.

LG Hausys is the No. 2 acrylic solid surface maker in North America with a market share of 20 percent, after DuPont. The Korean firm is also fourth in the engineered stone market.

The company said production will increase by about 50 percent once its third engineered stone manufacturing line in Georgia is completed in the latter half of the year.

"Artificial marble products are increasingly used in laundry rooms and living rooms as well as kitchens as more people worldwide are looking for luxurious interior goods," Kim Kwang-jin, an executive at LG Hausys America, said. "LG Hausys will enhance its brand power in North America, the world's largest artificial marble market."
