On Friday morning, 3 to 8 centimeters of snow fell per hour in many regions, including the southwestern provinces of Jeolla, the central provinces of Chungcheong, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province, and the southern Jeju Island, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).

The agency reported accumulations of 15.9 centimeters in Jinan of North Jeolla Province, 14.5 centimeters in Jeonju, 10 centimeters in Incheon, 9.4 centimeters in Geochang of South Gyeongsang Province and 8.2 centimeters in Seocheon of South Chungcheong Province between 1 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday. It forecast that 1 to 3 centimeters of snow will continue to fall per hour in the Jeolla provinces until Saturday and in Jeju until Sunday. In the Seoul metropolitan area, the snow will stop during Friday morning, it added.

The KMA cautioned about driving or walking on slippery roads, as morning temperatures in Seoul and most other regions will remain below minus 10 Celcius throughout the weekend. (Yonhap)
