Acting President Choi Sang-mok said Wednesday the government will use all available resources to curb the rise in home prices.
Choi made the remarks in an economy-related ministers' meeting, noting, "Home prices have been on a recent rise in some parts of Seoul."
"We will view the situation seriously and the related ministries and local governments will cooperate to sternly respond to price hikes in the housing market to ease concerns," he said, adding the government will take special measures if needed.
Turning to global trade issues, the acting president said it was too early to assess the impact of global trade uncertainties on Korean companies, despite the U.S. administration imposing tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports last week, with additional "reciprocal" tariff on their way.
Still, the government will devise measures to lessen the burden on local industries and continue to communicate with the U.S. and other major economies on trade barriers, he was quoted as saying.
Choi said the government also plans to provide 75.4 trillion won in policy financing to foster new growth engines. (Yonhap)
