The Constitutional Court has yet to announce a date for its final ruling on President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment trial, marking the longest deliberation on a presidential impeachment case in Korean history.

Legal experts and observers had anticipated a verdict by the end of this week, based on the timeline of previous presidential impeachment cases. However, with no announcement made by 6 p.m. Wednesday — verdict dates are typically announced about two days in advance — the ruling now seems likely to be postponed until at least next week.

Some speculate that the delay stems from the court's efforts to reach a unanimous 8–0 decision, avoiding dissenting opinions to minimize social unrest and division. Others, citing sources close to the court, suggest that disagreements among a few of the eight justices on key issues are hindering a prompt ruling.

Local media outlets also reported that the court is still reviewing critical issues and has not yet reached a conclusion.

In previous cases, the Constitutional Court announced its ruling date three days in advance for former President Roh Moo-hyun's impeachment trial and two days in advance for former President Park Geun-hye's case.

With no announcement made regarding the verdict date by Wednesday evening, the deliberation period for Yoon's case will exceed 100 days by next week, since the case was sent to the court in mid-December.

Meanwhile, the police plan to deploy around 14,000 personnel — which constitutes about 60 percent of the country's available riot police — to Seoul on the day of the ruling.

In addition, detectives will be stationed inside the Constitutional Court on that day, with the goal of arresting anyone who attempts to disrupt the proceedings.
