Some 1,000 English educators will meet for the 24th Annual KOTESOL International Conference hosted by Sookmyung Women's University Oct. 15 to 16.

The two-day conference supports KOTESOL's mission to "assist teachers in self-development and improve ELT in Korea."

TESOL stands for "teaching English to speakers of other languages" and KOTESOL is the Korean branch.

Presenters and attendees from around the world will address a range of issues.

"The KOTESOL International Conference is a fantastic opportunity to explore new perspectives, gain new insights, reflect on your teaching and socialize with teachers from around the globe," said KOTESOL President Lindsay Herron.

Conference Chair Jamie Carson said that she "wanted to make sure that there are new and exciting things for everyday teachers."

More than 200 sessions are planned, under the theme "Shaping the Future with 21st Century Skills." The conference's plenary speakers include Thomas S.C. Farrell from Brock University, Canada, and Tracey Tokuhama-Espinosa of Harvard University Extension School.

Featured speakers include Willy A. Renandya of National Institute of Education in Singapore, William Littlewood form Hong Kong Baptist University, Robert S. Murphy of the University of Kitakyushu, Japan, Lee Boyoung from Ewha Womans University and Burcu Tezcan-Unal of IATEFL TTEd-SIG & Zayed University from the UAE.

Also presenting will be Todd Beuckens visiting from ELLLO & Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan, Kara Mac Donald of Defense Language Institute and Lynda Yates of Macquarie University, Australia.
