North Korea calls Japan's export curbs politically motivated

North Korea said Saturday that Japanese export restrictions targeting South Korean companies are politically motivated and aimed at getting more votes in an upcoming election there. Japan has tightened regulations on exports to South Korea of three resource materials critical in the manufacture of semiconductors and panel displays in apparent retaliation over last year's Supreme Court rulings here that ordered Japanese firms to compensate Koreas forced to work for them during Japan's 1910-45 colonial rule of the peninsula.
