Multicultural centers provide free interpreting services

Immigrants from Vietnam, China and Thailand will find it easier to handle administrative affairs when state-funded welfare centers providing free translation and interpreting services from this month.

For immigrants from Vietnam, Nowongu Multicultural Family Support Center in Seoul is providing a free translating and interpreting service until the end of the year.

Under the program, the center's language specialists visit administrative institutions where they translate Korean documents necessary to settle here.

Immigrants can request help by visiting the center or by phoning 02-979-3502.

For Chinese immigrants, the multicultural center in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province is offering the service until the end of the year. People can request the service by visiting the center or phoning 061-659-5435.

The center in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province provides the service in Chinese and Vietnamese. Chinese speakers can request the service by phoning 031-938-9801. Vietnamese speakers should phone 031-938-9805.

For Thai immigrants, the center in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province is providing a language service to help migrants settle and to communicate more fluently with Korean family members.

The center also offers a service for Chinese and Vietnamese speakers. Immigrants from these three countries should phone 070-7733-8372.
