Seoul's public transportation services will extend their hours to meet demand during the Lunar New Year holidays.

According to the Seoul Municipal Government, subway trains and buses will run until 2 a.m. on Jan. 28 and 29, when most people are expected to return home.

Late-night bus services will operate from 11:40 p.m. to 5 a.m.

There also will be more express and intercity buses during the weekend, accommodating about 44,400 extra passengers.

"Since the time for the last trains differs from each station, passengers should check the transit information in advance," an official said.

Passengers can check specific timetables at topis.seoul.go.kr, or at stations.
