Netmarble will officially release its new mobile massive multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG), "Blade & Soul Revolution," Dec. 6, hoping for it to become a new cash cow for the company after the success of "Lineage 2 Revolution," the company said Thursday.

Netmarble has developed "Blade & Soul Revolution" based on the intellectual property (IP) of NCSOFT's PC online game, "Blade & Soul."

Netmarble CEO Kwon Young-sig said during a media showcase in Seoul that the game firm has incorporated visual aspects of the original game into "Blade & Soul Revolution" to offer the best experiences to gamers.

"This is our second title of the Revolution series," Kwon said. "We will bring about a revolution again in the mobile market."

He noted that the company applied full 3D graphics to the new mobile game, saying the firm will have even better results than it did with "Lineage 2 Revolution."

"We will also make an effort to have good results in the global market," he said.

Netmarble has reportedly earned about $1.3 billion worldwide since the release of "Lineage 2 Revolution" in December 2016. The game was developed based on the IP of NCSOFT's PC online game, "Lineage."

"Lineage 2 Revolution" has been released in 120 countries and become one of the top five games in 48 countries in terms of sales, according to the firm.

But Netmarble has recently suffered a fall in its sales and operating profit due to delays in releasing new games. Its operating profit fell by 40.8 percent during the April-June period from a year earlier.

The game firm originally planned to release "Blade & Soul Revolution" within the first half of the year, but the development period has been longer after the government implemented a new 52-hour limit on workweeks in July.
