Diageo Korea will release Hop House 13 lager beer on the Korean market this month, its Asian premiere, the company said Friday.

Hop House 13 is a double-hopped lager made with Irish barley, Guinness yeast and hops from Australia and the U.S. It was developed by Open Gate Brewery in St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland, which boasts a 259-year history.

With 5 percent alcohol by volume, it is characterized by a light and hoppy flavor, with floral and citrus notes, Diageo Korea said.

Diageo Korea said it will release Hop House 13 at 13 pubs in Seoul, Jan. 13. The beer will be available at large discount and convenience stores in 500-milliliter cans in the first half of the year.

"Hop House 13 was developed by Ireland's best brewers and is drawing keen attention in the European market," a Diageo Korea official said. "We are very delighted to have Korea as the first Asian market to introduce Hop House 13."
