Shilla Seoul named Forbes Travel Guide five-star hotel

The Shilla Seoul has been included in the five-star hotel club of Forbes Travel Guide, released Wednesday (local time).


The achievement carries extra weight as Shilla is the only Korea-based hotel to earn the highest status given to 210 properties worldwide. The Four Seasons Hotel Seoul and the Park Hyatt Seoul received four stars.

"Though it's the oldest luxury hotel in Seoul, the Samsung-owned Shilla is an up-to-date, modern treasure with world-class amenities," Forbes said.

Shilla made its Forbes debut in 2017 with a four-star rating.



JW Marriott Dongdaemun hails new GM

The JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul has named Lee Joong-ho as its new general manager.


The JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul has named Lee Joong-ho as its new general manager.Lee's experience in the hospitality industry spans 25 years. He began his career at the sales team of the Grand Ambassador Seoul in 1994 and has also worked for scores of global hotel brands, including the Grand Hyatt Seoul and the JW Marriott Seoul.

Prior to this appointment, he served as the general manager of the Sheraton Seoul D Cube City.

As this year marks the hotel's fifth anniversary, the new general manager has set his sights on cementing the hotel's billing as a luxury property in Seoul, the JW Marriott Dongdaemun said.


Novotel Dongdaemun presents package for single guests

The Novotel Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun Hotels and Residences has unveiled a package allowing a single guest to fully enjoy its property.

The package, available until April 30, features a one-night stay in a superior room, a free breakfast and free access to the executive lounge and a free rental of KT's GiGA Live TV along with a late check-out.

In particular, GiGA Live TV enables guests to watch 22 free movies, including seven 3D ones, and they can also enjoy afternoon tea and alcoholic beverages for free.


Grand Ambassador Seoul offers 'cozy' package

The Grand Ambassador Seoul associated with Pullman has come up with its Cozy Easy Package in partnership with massage chair maker Cozyma.

The promotion will be presented exclusively during March and it will give every package guest the company's hand-held massager worth 140,000 won ($124). Its room type will be a deluxe suite.

Plus, the hotel will furnish its deluxe suites with its newly produced 4D massage chair.


InterContinental COEX launches strawberry afternoon tea set

Sky Lounge, on the 30th floor of the InterContinental Seoul COEX, offers its strawberry afternoon tea set featuring over 10 kinds of strawberry-themed sweets until March 31.

Along with the strawberry desserts, it also features savory pastas and sandwiches.

The main menu consists of authentic European cuisine with consideration of Korean tastes, including strawberry mousse with sugar crumble, cheese souffle, berry tiramisu, chocolate tart and sweet cream panna cota verrine. Plus, guests have six options in tea that will perfectly compliment the sweets.

It is available from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. every day.
