An Olympic champion and a K-pop star are in love.
An agency representing Lee Sang-hwa, two-time Olympic champion in 500-meter speed skating, said on Saturday she is dating up-and-coming K-pop singer KangNam.
The pair has been in love for six months, said BONBOO ENT.
KangNam told Yonhap News Agency he first met Lee while shooting SBS TV's reality show "Law of the Jungle" in September.
"We got closer to each other while filming the program," KangNam said. "We have been dating since late last year." The singer described his Olympic champion girlfriend as a "humble" person who treats people around her with a "warm heart."
"I was fond of her being easy-going and kind," he told Yonhap.
Lee, 30, clinched gold in the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in 2010 and Sochi in 2014. She also holds the world record in women's 500 meters ― 36.36 seconds ― set in 2013.
KangNam, 32, who was born to a Korean mother and a Japanese father, debuted as a member of now-defunct group M.I.B in 2011. He dropped several trot songs including "You do well yourself" in 2018, and appeared in entertainment programs such as "Hello! Stranger."
