Cornerstone OnDemand, a U.S.-based workplace learning software provider, has officially launched its business here after securing Samsung Electronics as its first customer, the company said Friday.

Cornerstone, established in 1999, has provided what it calls talent management software to governments, enterprises, universities and non-profit organizations in 192 countries.

Company founder and CEO Adam Miller announced that it had secured the tech giant as its first Korean customer.

"We are working with one of the top companies in the world, Samsung," Miller said during a press conference in Seoul. "In addition to their executive learning center here, Samsung will be training their people across the world."

He said people in Samsung's partner firms would also use the service.

Cornerstone's workplace learning platform has been helping its customer organizations manage their employees better, Miller said.

He said there has been growing demand for workplace learning as the Fourth Industrial Revolution ― which many people say will usher in a new era of integration in technologies ― disrupts employment levels.

Noting that "most people in Korea and all over the world do not have the skills for the jobs being created in the Fourth Industrial Revolution," Miller said organizations will increasingly seek ways to educate their employees.

"You have to recruit the correct people but it is very hard to do because all these people are already working in other organizations," he said. "The other way is you can train your employees, which many companies are doing, but they just educate them once. The key is continuously training your people."

Cornerstone said it will expand its marketing efforts to large and mid-sized companies to expand its business here.
