Mnet's audition program Produce X 101 is facing accusations of vote-counting fraud in its selection of the 11 winners who will work for project band "X1" for the next five years.

At issue is the number of votes that separate some of them. For instance, the top vote getter and immediate runner-up are separated by 29,987 votes, the same gap between third and fourth, sixth and seventh, seventh and eighth and 10th and 11th.

The gap between fourth and fifth is 119,911 votes, the same number that separates 14th and 15th. Produce 101, in its fourth season this year, pits aspiring idol stars against each other, with those who get the most votes advancing to the next round, until the finalists are selected.

The controversy followed the final round that aired Friday. Fans have demanded an explanation from Mnet, which has so far kept silent. The fans paid 100 won (8 cents) to cast a vote.

The selected 11 are Kim Yo-han, Kim Woo-seok, Han Seung-woo, Song Hyeong-jun, Cho Seung-youn, Son Dong-pyo, Lee Han-gyul, Nam Do-hyon, Cha Jun-ho, Kang Min-hee, and Lee Eun-sang.
