The estranged father had long been living separately, while the deceased woman had another son who she was not on speaking terms with.

Police said the door was locked and the chain on. There were no signs of forced entry.

A monitoring CCTV showed no one was visiting them.

Neighbors told police that they had often heard the two fight.

The bodies were sent to the National Forensic Service for autopsies.
