Actress and former K-pop girl group member Sulli was found dead at her home Monday, according to police, amid speculation she may have taken her own life.

Sulli
Police officials said her agency discovered the body of the 25-year-old ― real name is Choi Jin-ri ― at 3:21 p.m. at a two-story house in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

As no suicide note has been found so far, an investigation into the cause of her death is being conducted, they added.

"Choi apparently lived alone in the house, and it seems that she took her own life but we are also looking into other possibilities," a police officer said.

Sulli debuted as an actress in 2005 and began her K-pop career as a member of the girl group f(x), produced by SM Entertainment, in 2009.

She went on a hiatus in 2014 after suffering from continuous malicious comments and rumors online, but resumed activities the following year, focusing on acting and leaving f(x).

Sulli recently appeared on a JTBC TV program where celebrities talk about online hate comments they receive.

The ex-K-pop star, who was active on social media, faced both criticism and support online for her bold and progressive character.
