As the nationwide battle against COVID-19 continues, disaster relief efforts rely more than ever on generous donations of thoughtful individuals ― and a whirlwind of Korean celebrities is racing to join the relay of charitable deeds.

The latest addition is hip-hop producer GRAY, who posted a captured image of donation confirmation on Instagram on Tuesday showing that he gave 50 million won ($41,893) to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association to aid relief efforts combating COVID-19 under his real name Lee Sung-hwa.

The growing presence of the deadly coronavirus in South Korea has been at the center of nationwide panic since confirmed cases soared over the past several weeks. As of Tuesday morning, coronavirus infections in South Korea reached 4812. The death toll rose to 28.

"Let's fight this together. Stay strong!" the producer wrote.

This is not his first time GRAY has given a helping hand to charities. He earlier supported disaster relief efforts for the wildfire in Gangwon Province in April last year. Along with fellow hip-hop artists, he also took part in a campaign called 119 REMIX, which supported fire-related non-profit causes.

So far, many other Korean celebrities have also been helping to fight the spread of the deadly virus.

Among K-pop acts, Girls' Generations' YoonA, members of Red Velvet, BTS's Suga, Kang Daniel, singer-songwriter IU and many more have joined the relay.

Household-name actors Lee Byung-hun, Kim Woo-bin, Jung Woo-sung, and actress Shin Min-a each donated 100 million won ($84,118) to Community Chest of Korea. Gong Yoo, star of the hit K-drama "Goblin," also sent 100 million won to the same charity.

Earlier, director Bong Joon-ho donated 100 million won to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association under his Oscar-winning film "Parasite."

Donations will be used for treatment of the virus, to provide protective masks and to support medical staff in hard-hit regions.
