The title song from K-pop artist Kim Se-jeong's first solo album "Plant" has zoomed to the top of music charts following its release Tuesday.

The ballad ― with the same title as the album ― took top spot on the chart of music streaming site Bugs, second on Genie's chart and fourth on Soribada's chart, as of Wednesday morning.

The mini-album is the singer's first solo work since her debut in 2016. It consists of five tracks, including four self-written and composed songs ― "Hopes for Tomorrow," "SKYLINE," Swim Away" and "In My Dream."

"Releasing a solo album has been my dream since childhood," Kim told Yonhap during a roundtable interview for the album on March 10.

"I hope this album will lead my fans and audiences to know that I write and compose music and to hear my voice."

The singer rose to stardom as she competed in Mnet's popular K-pop audition show "Produce 101" in January 2016. She debuted as a member of the project group I.O.I after making it into the top 11 finalists from the show in the same year.

Kim joined the eight-member Gugudan in 2016 after the project group disbanded. She also has also been starring in reality shows, including "Busted!" ― a Netflix original series.
