"AstraZeneca investigates 'unexplained illness' in study participant"
"아스트라제네카, 임상 시험 참가자에게서 알 수 없는 질환 발견... 조사 시작"
Late-stage studies of AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine candidate are on temporary hold as the company investigates whether a patient suffered a serious side effect or if the illness had nothing to do with the shot.
아스트라제네카의 코로나19 백신 후보물질에 대한 임상 3상이 일시적으로 중단되었고, 회사 측은 환자가 심각한 부작용을 겪었는지 아니면 해당 질환이 백신주사와 아무런 관련이 없는지에 대해 조사하고 있다.
In a statement issued Tuesday evening, the company said its "standard review process triggered a pause to vaccination."
동사는 화요일 저녁 발표한 성명에서 "표준 검토 절차가 백신 임상을 중단시켰다"고 밝혔다.
AstraZeneca didn't reveal any information about the possible side effect except to call it "a potentially unexplained illness." The health news site STAT first reported the pause in testing, saying the possible side effect occurred in the United Kingdom.

An AstraZeneca spokesperson confirmed the pause in vaccinations covers studies in the U.S. and other countries. Late last month, AstraZeneca began recruiting 30,000 people in the U.S. for its largest study of the vaccine.
