K-pop girl group BLACKPINK and boy band Seventeen have clinched two awards each at the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMAs).

During the award ceremony held in Dusseldorf, Germany, Sunday (local time), BLACKPINK won the Best Metaverse Performance category for its virtual performance on PUBG Mobile, a virtual in-game concert held in the Battlegrounds mobile game. The four-piece act bagged a prize for the same category at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) held in New Jersey back in August.

"We're so grateful to have won the EMA for Best Metaverse Performance this year. We had so much fun working on this project and we're so happy that our fans enjoyed it as much as we did," the group said in its acceptance speech released through a video.

BLACKPINK member Lisa also took the award for the Best K-Pop category.

Seventeen won the Best New category, which recognizes an artist who deserves attention, and the Best Push category, which is given to an artist showing the best performance among those that have been selected for the MTV Push Campaign over the past year.

"Thank you for this Best New title. This year meant a lot to us. We're back to touring, we met so many people around the world with new music and with this title added to the year, it will be even more unforgettable," Seventeen said in a video.

K-pop juggernaut BTS notched the Biggest Fans category for the fifth consecutive year while Tomorrow X Together (TXT) won the Best Asia Act award.
